Turtles
“Turtles”
The stolen child
woke up one day
before a mirror
the window
reflecting
another world,
a faded memory
turtles -
on the beach that day
a game they played
questions,
answers,
slow and steady
wins the race
it’s in the DNA
seen through the mirror
the other world,
a game they played
the devil's
in the details,
they say
one day,
the stolen child
woke up
she found release
through what
the mirror had to say
heard or not,
it wasn't a game
she played
one day,
the stolen child
woke up
like a turtle
she left the shore,
she swam away
