Turtle Generation

Themed and labelled by fancy connotations
Ultimately we return to polarizing situations
Renouncing us, our world divided by our ways
This turtle generation of youths calls our study
Lay that lames them diminished of our praise
Enfold in their world of passivity and apathy

Gender insertions and racial assertions despite
Excite nothing still beyond the line of self, bare
Needlessly without responsibility: an alien blight
Emerges to the predecessors' eyes. Just to care
Regarding where they move and exist to need
Able bodied people like a water on the seashore
Tip only the edge of self and need and so recede
Ignorant of all space, time, empty to the core
Of layers and layers of culture and struggle here
Nurture in me a fear for tomorrow, and my despair

Imitate them and the world falls still and fall again
Slower and slowly into an abyss of existential pain

Nature's only image the soft turtle in hard shell encased
Out of our world, in its world alone, apart remain
Without involvement, empathy, or fault of modern haste

I don't get the turtle bit, unless that is some other reference to things on a beach, I like the idea of people as the tide, only interested in their own needs before leaving again. interesting poem.

Nick, turtles in their shell, carry their figurative world on themselves and seem to have no other interest. Some research has shown me that children across every cultural boundary have entered an age an apathy and nonchalance. Hyper population gives us a larger smart 10 percent, however. Love
