Tunnel Vision

As I watched the sweat roll down
past my chin and down my sides
I stayed determined to keep up
my stamina for this one track ride

I pumped the handcar trolley
through the tunnels twists and turns
keeping my eyes focused
although at times they stung and burned

As I pumped I noticed
my hair go from brown to gray
but that didn't deter me
going down the tunnel track each day

Elation and adrenaline I felt
approaching the light at the very end
and jumping off the handcar trolley
I retired round the bend

As we age in life, it seems like every turn and twist through the tunnel we get another grey hair. Enjoyed the ride on the handcar trolley, especially because I've never been on one.(lol) Good luck in the contest Che! ...All the best...Charlie

Enjoyed reading this one. It has good flow and rhythm. We do put a lot into life and it does wear us down. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

This is an original, I love it Cheryl. Love the part where the hair changes color, gradually it seems in the stark reality of life and death. Thanks for the sharing gl in the contest

Nicely written, Cheryl, I am starting to think about taking the leap myself. John
