Tumbleweeds

A sight that no one really needs Is piles and piles of tumbleweeds But that is what I do believe Was seen out west on New Year's Eve. Along a stretch of highway there Were tumbleweeds beyond compare. The road was closed for 20 miles, The drivers stuck not sporting smiles. It took the crews 10 hours or more To make the highway like before. Though New York City has its faults, Our weeds do not do somersaults!

Very well done Ilene! I was raised in Kansas and they have plenty there. No redeeming attributes that I can think of. That last line was a real zinger! Very funny!......pat

Really well done, Ilene! But I disagree with Chris, as he must never have experienced digging up the taproot, removing the thistles from skin and clothing (as Western mothers must do) or had to deal with the EXTREME fire hazard of drifting tumbleweeds! Imagine the conflagration if just one of those tumbleweeds touched an hot muffler! Aloha! Rico

This was funny. I didn't hear about this incident but your poem sure made it sound like fun. Not all tumbleweeds are bad though...there are a few nice ones rolling around. : )
