Tulip Puddle...

by the barefoot beaten path
on the other side of the garden
lies a natural tulip puddle
where the ground forgot to harden

like lost yellow ships in a bay
it gathers dripping pedals and rain
and the pollen from the flower
gives the water a honey color stain

as I reach for the last tulip to save it
from the tiny golden lagoon
the final pedal floats to the earth
like the falling morning moon

Captivating image, Luke! Love the way you reach to save the last tulip as "the final petal floats to earth." Incredible poem!
