Trying To Push a Buffalo Home

She was no longer young But not quite old Still deep in her soul She was a romantic Believing in love at first sight And of course Soul mates On starlit nights She would go outside Looking up at the sky Repeating the poem “Star light, star bright” Making a wish On the first star that appeared In the end When all the wishing was done And dreams unfilled She would walk into an empty home With hopes of tomorrow Sometimes she thought smiling It was so difficult keeping the faith Almost like Trying to push a buffalo home
