Trying To Be Myself
Nerd. Geek. Loser. No Good. Waste of Life.
Words that pierced my heart every day of my youth.
It was constant degrading from classmates and even family.
I couldn't go one day without someone telling me how bad I was when all I did was try to be myself.
I didn't drink, smoke or do drugs. Never had detention or got in trouble. Always got good grades. Was on the school newspaper, chess club, a teachers and library aid, and big sister program.
Because I didn't party, cause chaos or turn into a "normal" teen, I was an outcast who never fit in.
Its a shame that if your not in society's "clicks" you do not get accepted as a person.
