Truth

To some it is overrated To others it is never done A lie is but the underside of truth To spin a web of deceit is only The stretching of the facts for greater appeal Lies will be facts if they link in a reasonable sequence A speck or two of the known Can easily enfold and camouflage The truths that must never be told People may believe as they are required When a lie is beautifully told To embellish and smooth the rough edges Is but to make a lie more palatable Consumption is known to lead to acceptance Despite digestion Later unearthing inconsistencies Time is truths good friend on occasion Fiction that was never meant to be real May attain legitimacy As time works its magic Usage can and does transform The bare bones of truth For we are In an age that loves spin To admit you lied is never done To be caught out is to have Done a sloppy inconsistent job Woe betide Those found to have lied knowingly To be fooled is to the victim A violation of trust A shameful realization that What we think we know Is not what it actually is Truth can vary Depending on the ear that receives it Receptiveness coupled with pre-conceived ideas Is the key to the cons That truth may have in store A dangerous thing is a lie That never attains The status of un-contentious truth It travels a very tempestuous road There is never any place for doubt If a fact is to be considered such Truths must be logical Truths must be flexible Truths as always depend on you Accept what you will Believe what you must Don’t ever Blindly trust
