Trust and Truth Where Are You
I like to be independent,
As much as I can
I try to comply with tried and tested plans
I do my best for someone in need
I can't abide selfishness or greed
I show concern for others
Who are not as fortunate as I
I try to be honest
But I have been known to lie
I have a conscience
If I find that I am wrong
I am wary of folk
Who comes on too strong?
Peace and harmony are never far away,
In my mind, every day
I pray for peace.
I do not trust the daily news,
That print their distorted views
In this troubled world today
I fear that we have gone astray.
I don't understand what's normal anymore,
Like a ship that can't find shore
We are all at sea
I feel that I can't conform
I will not wear this uniform
Where are truth and trust now
We must find them somehow.
