Trust

I gave you my heart,
it trusts to rest perfectly in the cup of your hands,
so I gave you my heart to hold,
to carry over a river of broken dreams,
over the shards of a life past ,
to an intensity of true love desired,
but you became weak,
unable to hold my heart forever,
you reached out to take another,
mine discarded,
drifting,
torn,
a fading heartbeat,
dead echoes of emptiness,

Now...

in this time of need,
I ponder,
to trust another ,
vulnerable I look to you,
I share these words that belong to my heart,
and in this intimate moment,
I give my heart to you,
to carry over a river of broken dreams,
over the shards of a life past,
to an intensity of true love desired,
but I fear it to fall again,
so handle this heart with care,
it trusts to rest perfectly in the cup of your hands,

Wow Paul this is great, you did all this from a title. I, and I think we, your readers feel your pain and heartache when reading all of your poems. Keep up the good work. x
