Truly Unattainable

I have always known that I was only capable of loving a woman,
More beautiful, more wealthy, more genius, and gifted than I.
The unattainable…...

Now I see that the woman I have loved have had all of these,
plus one.

They are incapable of loving another, too wounded to love.

Truly unattainable…

I thought they would love me, if I taught them to love.
The complexity in teaching love is best left to God.

Beautiful sketch of your good & bad experiences of life and love. If you expect too much it is difficult to get even enough but if you do not expect much you often get too much. Many thanks for your comments on my poem. Freedom and exploitation of poor are two separate things, while I agree that any exploitation of poor by rich should be condemned but not at the cost of freedom of mind and thoughts. I am writing a book The Boatman's Song which would cover the point raised by you. love Ravindra

Interesting poem. Life is a constant learning process. And we are all in the process of learning how to love. Aren't we? Thought provoking poem. Thanks for sharing. Caroline.
