Truly Taught
Judy Clark taught me
two things
I never forgot
Once while killing
time in class
her irritation I wrought
Kicking a shoe across the
Aisle to a friend
doing same in kind
busily doing
In lieu of
The work this hour assigned
teaching more
than English
A lesson that with truth still rings
Simple minded people
Find pleasure
In simple things
She also pointed out
to me quite sternly
On another day
Our words can be
healing or caustic
It's a choice we make to convey
A teacher who went
beyond the pale
to share what of life she knew
A woman with
dignity earning a place
In the hearts of more than a few
