Truly Taught

Judy Clark taught me two things I never forgot Once while killing time in class her irritation I wrought Kicking a shoe across the Aisle to a friend doing same in kind busily doing In lieu of The work this hour assigned teaching more than English A lesson that with truth still rings Simple minded people Find pleasure In simple things She also pointed out to me quite sternly On another day Our words can be healing or caustic It's a choice we make to convey A teacher who went beyond the pale to share what of life she knew A woman with dignity earning a place In the hearts of more than a few
