Truly Poetic

Tribute to my Rhyming friends

We may not be young, any more
But there, was a time that we could write
The Sun would knock upon our door
And the moon visit us at night

Sure now, we seem antiquated
Rhyming as we do
The new poetic styles and verses
May make us look like fools

But given time, seasons change
And all things come around
And rhyming will once again
Be the Poetry, that abounds

Rhyming poetry is truly the style that moves me the most. But, as you say, If something is wonderfully or beautifully said in another form and I have a heart felt reaction then I am happy with the poem. I love the rhythm and flow of the rhyming poetry. Very well said, my friend..... Robert.

Jerry, I like how you let Tim know that there were also great poets in the free verse and other forms not rhymed. This is a poem that really grabbed my attention and one that I could relate to. I think many of us "old timer rhymers" feel insecure knowing that the publishers of the high brow books are looking at us all as fools. but at least we all have each other!! by the way, I saw your comment on the acrostic Freddie wrote for me, Thanks for what you said. I really liked that!

Yes, there are many here who would agree, but for those who my not, I understand. There are some very talented and skilled members who write in the other forms and truly create beautiful works. What freedom, what Power, to have a way with words. Who doesn't love a Shakespearian verse, or Seuss on the loose.

I am a natural rhymer as well, I've been trying out these new styles but I can't break away from my Dr. Seuss roots. So I'll stick with a rhyme, one word at a time :)

In my opinion, all other forms of poet/prose stand on their own, If the words a chosen well and the message clear and meaningful, it is truly poetic, if not, it's just tedious and boring, but if this occurs in a rhyme, Then you have the beauty of the sounds and rhythm to save it. Seuss the Master
