True Friend

Whoever says dogs aren’t too smart never knew Apollo, who’d lead us cleverly to things he wanted, and we’d follow. . . This German Shepherd, friendly and obedient and bright, was so devoted we could feel secure throughout the night. For he was always with us, our protector, yet our child, a funny pet who loved to play but never got too wild. And anyone who says a dog does not know how to love has not had a true friend like mine to sing his praises of! A tribute to the German Shepherd who was beloved of my friend Lis.

German shepherds are notoriously smart and loving. Love your tribute to an animal. Cats are also smart and loving, but not quite like dogs. Love, daver

Terrific!! We had a German Shepherd when we were kids. A magnificent creature and a kids best friend. Thanks for this on Andrea, brought back a few memories of long ago.

I had the honor of being charged by a German Shepard while on a walk not long ago, I stood calm and stern prepared for a lateral open handed shove strike as it leaped over a ditch, but to my pleasure it stopped its striding lunge at my feet and was simply excited to be near me. May he R.I.P. You so lovingly descibe his personality and spirit Andrea...J.A.B.

I remember you mentioning Apollo.Smart cute dog it seems to have been.I love animals,and my favourites are dogs.Your poem transmit the feeling of what an adorable dog He was.

Wow a superb poem to the german shepherd, a golden beauty the one i hav seen. And yor rhymin verses sang swell in eulogy of what so many know as man's best friend. So which one do u own pal? And what do u cal it? I like dog breed names and their pet names. TC.
