True Friend

Whoever says dogs aren’t too smart
never knew Apollo,
who’d lead us cleverly to things
he wanted, and we’d follow. . . 

This German Shepherd, friendly and
obedient and bright,
was so devoted we could feel
secure throughout the night.

For he was always with us,
our protector, yet our child,
a funny pet who loved to play
but never got too wild.

And anyone who says a dog
does not know how to love
has not had a true friend like mine
to sing his praises of!

A tribute to the German Shepherd who was beloved of my friend Lis.

Justin Bordner September 29, 2014 at 8:31 PM I had the honor of being charged by a German Shepard while on a walk not long ago, I stood calm and stern prepared for a lateral open handed shove strike as it leaped over a ditch, but to my pleasure it stopped its striding lunge at my feet and was simply excited to be near me.
