Tricky

Hope is a tricky thing,
It can come and it can go,
Sometimes hard to hold on to,
And sometimes we throw it to the crows.

Hope can deceive us,
Believing it is there,
But then swept from underneath us,
Swallowing us in fear.

Listen and listen carefully,
Because hope is not always grim,
Hold onto it dearly,
Even when the odds seem next to slim.
