Treasures Lost

Hold my pipes
Hold my feathers
With this i'm trusting you
With our greatest treasures

One to pass among each other
Maybe talk about peace
Maybe talk about our lands
Not disturbing our deceased

One to fan the flames of progress
Put back the fire in our souls
Fan the flames of the future
Free of all controls

 Now they control our treasures
It's time we strung our bows
Take back our pipes and feathers
Take back the lands we know
                          PALLANES

Marc, your poem truly captures the voice and spirit of Native Americans. I have read poetry written by Native Americans and that last verse could easily have been penned by one of them. Congratulations on your win in Line's contest. Sending wishes for holiday cheer, Carolyn
