Trapped No More.

In one moment...things changed.

Things that were locked away at the bottom of my chest,
were suddenly spiraling out from my mouth like music notes from a song.

But not a good song.
A song that should not have been released,
a song too truthful that only I should hear.

But in that one moment
everything that weighed me down,
everything that held me back
and hurt and bruised me for so long
was now unleashed from my heart.

I was free.

But you there, standing, just listening to everything I had to say.
Not flinching,
Not angry,
Just staying put like a stone in a storm..perfectly intact.

You let me unleash my words.
You took them with grace.
And hugged me.

I knew then how even though my declaration was made,

Nothing.......

would ever change.

Your poem is honest and heart felt Rebecca. If you can't speak what needs to be said, then writing them down is the next best thing, even if the person you want to express your feelings to doesn't even get to read them. It will help you cope. Aloha, Connie I am new to Poetrysoup. I love your beautiful country I have visited three times now.
