“Who are you?” The boy asked “Who am I?” replied the girl This one’s masked Living a lie, precious pearl Don’t speak Don’t breathe Don’t look “Please, please don’t leave” Someone’s dying Here in this world Lies to the living Keeping “his” wings furled She wants to speak She wants to breathe She wants to be seen But she’ll live how they want She’ll wither and die She’ll see the cruelties of truth And hide from the light
