Tough Times

The aroma of fresh coffee filled the air
Will have a cup if one is going spare
While I'm at it could I have some cake
Really hungry and thirsty make no mistake

I see you are throwing out that pillow today
Will take it off your hands if that's okay
Means I have something to lay my head
I'm tired of sleeping outside and haven't a bed

Don't suppose you have any spare change
Please listen to me and I'm not strange
No money in my pockets for a long time now
Something to call my own would be nice somehow

Walk on by me I guess that's your right
Think of me though by the shop light
That's where I will be here every night
Out of mind and always out of sight
