Tough Love
Love is a gift unconditional to blood
Flowing through veins, strong like a flood
Freely given from the womanly vessel
But oft whith which I fought and wrestle
Though The years have not always been kind
Your strange kind of love was strong in my mind
My own self destruction, to which I was blind
Your tough love was needed for myself to find
Harder it is for the one giving love
To be strong and caress with a rough iron glove
Because a lesson worth learning needs to be earnt
For without the hard yards nought will be learnt
So yes I admit to have given you grief
But the lessons I’ve learnt have offered relief
I now sleep easy, content, warm and proud
I offer up Thank You with grateful head bowed
