Touched

i've ridden
a camel
i've been in
a cross country
taxi station
wagon
and floated
in a felucca
going down
the Nile
all these
while just
in Egypt

so now i find
myself not
in a horse drawn
cart or the mistake
of not taking
a rickshaw
thus taking
one man's income
by thinking i won't
treat him
like an
animal
but

as
i

sit at a stop
light waiting
for green
but see
a man with
a sign that reads
homeless
take anything
god bless
he is to my right
so i lean to unwind
my window by hand
to hand him

what i had
just a muffin
but at least
something
but he
in disbelief
sees my manual
window opening
motion and
emotionally
says,
"you're
almost
as bad off

as me"

Totally true story Maureen. Perhaps he was touched by the great spirit, thus the title; but who's to say who is crazier. I'm glad I got a giggle out of you. Laughter and I go way back. My only childhood friend...ah next poem perhaps.
