Touch of Evil

Evil surely exists.
And it’s as simple as
That which is anti-life.
But each of us
Has a touch of evil
Within us.
If we are healthy
This touch is like an inoculation
Preparing and protecting us.
If we are unwell
Then without balance, without direction
We feed the evil
Thinking somehow we are the good
Without question righteous
And can do no wrong.
This is how evil grows after all
One heart at a time
Turned from the fluid warmth of Life
To the rigid chill of Death.
