Top of the Stairs
What’s behind the door?
Was I here before?
In faded lives ago?
Store-room full of dust,
Open if I must
The room I used to know.
Who was I back then?
Saint, or scourge of men?
The dust will never tell.
Store-room old with mold
(Attic dim and cold),
Conceals my ghost as well.
