Too Young

She held me vice like
frozen to the floor
with just her eyes
those big blue eyes
her lashes were short
but her stories were long
and the tears lasted longer
than I'd ever seen before
In a person so young.
She didn't weep out of want
but out of need
for someone to understand
'too young' I said
but inside my head
for I had to be strong
she needed someone to depend on
and although i was younger
and couldn't interpret the abuse
I could feel the pain from her eyes
and I knew I needed to protect her
so I gave her a shoulder
and I tried to be bolder
I kept her away from him
whenever I could
slumber parties we lied
just to get her away
from the clutches of evil
in a normal house
where no one suspected
but I knew it's secrets.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
