Too Soon

Like a train, life barrels by
Never ending though it seems
Yet when it crashed I had to cry
It broke my heart and killed your dreams

I lost you once and nevermore
Would I be waiting for your smile
I yearn to travel back before
You felt that you were not worthwhile

Just as we began to bond
Life put you in your greatest state
My memories are only fond
Till your decision cleared the slate

With highs come lows as you well know
And like that train, you seldom crashed
This final trip, your lowest low
We sadly learned would be your last

I say goodbye my humble friend
Your words were wise and true
With time I hope to comprehend
How much I really meant to you
