Too Late When They Are Gone

Perceived slights and angry words abound
But it’s too late when they’re gone
Loved ones leave and quit coming around
But it’s too late when when they’re gone
Egos say your right and they are wrong
But it’s too late when they are gone

Healing words never said from any side
But it’s too late when they’re gone
To put things right and swallow your pride
And admit you might be wrong
And it’s too late when they’re gone

Standing beside a coffin praying to undo time
You beg God for one more chance
But It’s too far a mountain for you to climb
Under your current circumstance

So love and forgive easily today
Though your anger and pride are strong
You never know if death will come their way
Too late for regret when they’re gone.

Words of wisdom, Deb. You can never make up the past. Some don't realize until it is too late.
