Because of the Fall, creation was subjected to futility. In the future God will redeem creation, also. (Romans 8:18-22)
Out of the West,
God sends His puffy whites,
Stained red by the setting sun-
As if to soak up
The wounds of another day.
Out of the East,
God sends His darkness,
Quickened by the Earth's plea-
As if to cover
That which can take no more.
Out of the Dawn,
God takes away His bandage,
Saturated by bloodied wounds-
As if to tell us
"It never fully healed."
