Tomorrow Is Another Day

Tomorrow Is Another Day

Indeed, today’s
‘been no crystal stairway’;
rather, more of a steep
winding staircase
with veiled challenges
rivaling the trials of old Job;
and making a mockery
of the efforts of old Sisyphus.

My bridge
over troubled waters
proved too weak
to bear me over—
falling under the weight
of my burdens
as if a grasshopper
bridled to haul bales of hay.

So stop whining child—
‘bout no desert with supper:
the pre-paid pizza
an error in house address.

Tomorrow
is another day.
