Together We Stand: Pray For Paris
Cries of terror echo down the streets
Our God in heaven, many have, went to meet
Screams everywhere…
Of pain, fear, and shock
Fatalities increasing along every corner and block
Why was a place of such love taken over by hate?
Some lives were saved, but others had a different fate
The images of the fallen will forever remain
In the minds of those with a permanent stain
How can such cruelty happen to innocent souls?
The terrorists set out with one specific goal
They aimed to take away what we, people, hold the most dear
Our humanity and love, they tried to replace with fear
They may think that they have won – for the time being
But that feeling of togetherness will only become freeing
Love was being spread, not taken away
Strangers began to grab one another and continuously pray
We may be a different nationality or practice opposite traditions
But we all share the same respect and ambitions
In competition, we may sit on opposing sides of the bench
But at this moment in time, we all became French.
