Together Through the Years

Marriages have come and gone
Elmer and Rachel have held on
Early, their resources were few
They always shared and made do
Their quarters were really quite spare
Still, the couple found happiness there
An enormous increase came to their joy
They became parents to a girl and boy
Whatever life’s problems came to demand
The two of them always made a united stand
The children now have been long gone
Having established families of their own
They visit with the grandchildren in tow
So the older generation they come to know
Elmer and Rachel are now happily retired
By their devotion, younger ones are inspired
Decades ago, their marriage did begin
They will remain together to the end
