Together

There’s a solemn moon, despite the breaking dawn
A lone bird calls, it sounds forlorn
Cloistered clouds cause ripples in the sky.
With fears I look, inside my heart
Could a different turn, have meant a better start?
I’m feeling just so hopeless I could cry.

A callous touch of a bitter breeze
Its icy touch seems here to squeeze
Now this rock, has crumbled into sand.
Yet in better times, I could smile all day
Before bills and debts, and lack of pay
Why does nothing ever go as planned?

I need you close, I’m feeling doomed
Before this grief comes all consumed
Love me, hug me, darling, help me now.
Two in hand, are always strong
Even when, all things are wrong
I know with you, I’ll always cope somehow.

Life can sometimes get you down
I forget that with you around
Nothing is more solid than we are
I always cope when you are there
Always there, to hear and share
Forevermore we'll both be guiding stars.

You got the story down, the relationship, the love and the strength of the two together and apart. The emotion is strong and relatable. This is a lot to get in one poem. Good work Mark!

I was on a real rock bottom with this poem. The 2nd consecutive year of drought had got to me and knowing I'll have to stop farming had me pretty upset. Thank goodness for a wonderful marriage.

Cheers Charlie, I wanted to write something a bit different to what I normally do.
