Today Is Not the Day

Sandra is not excited about her hair
She is feeling frumpy these days
She cannot reach her toes
And she is not happy about it

We are going to have a baby!
Her husband tells everybody
They immediately look at her bigness
She feels strange, ugly and bloated

He was the one who wanted this baby.
He can have the next one.
She pictures him in maternity clothes and laughs
Having one second of happiness

Oops. Almost dropped the box of shirts
She gets them done at the laundry now
She never did like ironing,
And they make the collars nice and stiff

She is carrying two purses today
The old one with the broken strap
And the new one she has not had time to fill yet
With stuff from the old one

Her ankles are all puffed up
Why did she wear these shoes?
She hears somebody making cat calls.
If it is toward her she will smack them with her purses.

Today is not the day
And she is not in the mood.

Thanks. I needed this, Caren. I look exactly like this woman today. My ankles and feet all bloated. My stomach out of control. She has an 'excuse' - pregnancy. What's mine? Three days ago, I was fine. Go figure in life... :) gw

I have to tell you getting older is not for pussies.
