Today I Die

I often sailed in stormy seas
Against the fiercest winds
And often pleaded on my knees
To blot my woesome sins.

But sweet days would desert me
And sadness would blow a soft tear
The silent nights would greet me
With the bitter notes of despair.

For in the sultry spring she rose
To welcome the day with a sad sigh
Away from me,oh there she goes
And left me gloomed to blasted die!

For days of old my spirit sprung
That fulgent joy,that loving grace
That her tender heart had sung
To save me from this life of waste.

For she gave me a life of meaning and I
Through my darksome life of vain
Would but these few memories ensky
Where the ancient Gods have lain.

Now this may be the last poem I write
And the very last breath I breathe
But today I die for a love so right
As the amour moon recede.

I can really relate to this poem. This is an amazing piece of poetry! Your words flow just beautifully here, and I love the rhyme scheme. I write most of my rhyming poems in the same way. It seems to be a rare writing style. And thank you for reading my poem "Sanctum", and for the kind comments. I really appreciate it!

I do not enjoy making suggestions to alter a piece, but I would have loved, for the sake of flow, for some lines to read as such: "Blow soft a tear" Something like "Welcome day with saddest sighs" "If no more poems I will write, with no more breaths to breathe.... "As my lunar love recedes" I don't know, something along those lines, but I must tell you, this is a wonderful poem and I enjoyed it immensely. Aside from a few bumps here and there, really quite outstanding; kudos! Quite lovely!
