Today

For today I live in the present,
Avoiding and evading regrets
About the past, what I have done, cannot change
Though I wish I could.
Not thinking about the future,
The uncertainty and fear it brings
And the shameful secret that I am afraid.
Afraid of what could be, what is yet to come
Afraid of who I could be, who I could become
Take away my childish fright and lock it all away
Up until you do I will just focus on today.
