To Whom Should I Be Grateful
Is karma, fate, or even healthy food
the secret to my longevity?
I'm totally, or partly convinced
of these enough to obsess me;
I owe myself for the care I take of myself,
to whom should I be grateful...
if not to the Eternal God
who has seen in me no greed, envy, or bluff!
I can rest assured that no harm will come to me,
giving concrete credence to His existence and dispute
the illusory credibility that others impose on me;
my integrity remains intact, I don't turn into a brute!
I'm driven by faith the way a chariot is driven by horses
that won't halt unless an imminent danger looms ahead;
the angelic realm is very real: I was spared numerous times,
I felt angels' arms pick me up safely and my body was shielded!
To whom should I be grateful,
if not to the Eternal God
who has been my armor and shield,
when menacing mouths shouted threats and obscenities;
and tried to inflict pain and sling spears...
ah, they failed because I had the same strategy as Saul!
