To Which Image Should We Cling

Oh, to which image should I cling?
To an image that won me some bling!
I had a dream in mind,
And I would not be left behind.

It all started on a rainy January day,
And I knew I had to stay,
For the first practice of the year.
I was ready, show no fear!

I may have been out of shape,
But I knew there was no escape.
I was ready for this,
And there is nothing I would miss.

I ran as much as I could,
And riding my bicycle felt good.
But swimming was the best.
I could swim a mile without rest!

Would I be ready when the time came,
And be able to add my name?
This image will never fade,
For it is one that I, alone made.

Race day had finally arrived,
And yes, I survived.
The image of crossing the finish line,
The dream of being a triathlete was finally mine!

You remind me of my early years when I indulged in sports. Not now, unfortunately. But I'm glad for your win.
