To Truly Belong
Verse 1:
We must take responsibility for what we do
Ooooh ooooh
I must apply that advice too
Ooooh ooooh
And I haven't a clue what to do
Ooooh ooooh
Where do I begin? Can someone give me a clue?
Ooooh ooooh
Pre-chorus:
I'm not dense
I'm not dumb
I'm smart and I make sense
In what I do, though I feel...numb
Chorus:
I just met a friend in college
It is such a great privilege
I do belong
Yeah, yeah
I do belong
I'm singin' this song
Knowing right from wrong
The tension between us
Makes me feel like we're not on the same bus
Verse 2:
I walk home from school
I wasn't an ordinary kid
It was hard to make friends because I was taken as a geek fool...
At least my life's not at stake and there's more creative cakes to bake
Pre-chorus:
I'm not dense
I'm not dumb
I'm smart and I make sense
In what I do, though I feel...numb
Chorus:
I just met a friend in college
It is such a great privilege
I do belong
Yeah, yeah
I do belong
I'm singin' this song
Knowing right from wrong
The tension between us
Makes me feel like we're not on the same bus
Verse 3:
I know I might seem dumb,
But I am intelligent and have weird tendencies
I might look like I know it all; at least I'm using my time wisely...unlike some
I know I'm outlandish and have beyond normal fantasies
Pre-chorus:
I'm not dense
I'm not dumb
I'm smart and I make sense
In what I do, though I feel...numb
Chorus:
I just met a friend in college
It is such a great privilege
I do belong
Yeah, yeah
I do belong
I'm singin' this song
Knowing right from wrong
The tension between us
Makes me feel like we're not on the same bus
Bridge:
I spent my days in bed
I spent my nights in my head
I graduated from High School
Now, I'm taken like a college fool
But, I am stronger than they know
Oooooh ahhhhh
And I'm not alone in my flow
I failed to reach the finish line
But, success will treat me fine
Ooooooh ahaaaaa
Mmmmhmmmmm
Na na na da da
Pre-chorus:
I'm not dense
I'm not dumb
I'm smart and I make sense
In what I do, though I feel...numb
Chorus:
I just met a friend in college
It is such a great privilege
I do belong
Yeah, yeah
I do belong
I'm singin' this song
Knowing right from wrong
The tension between us
Makes me feel like we're not on the same bus
Long Pre-chorus:
I'm not dense
I'm not dumb
I'm smart and I make sense
In what I do, though I feel...numb
I'm smart and I make sense
I'm not stupid
Like my mind says...I'm not all that ignorant
Those goodbye's and ignoring frowns you bid
Ain't all that pleasant...I'm not totally in God's tent
Hmmm...next subject
But, this song is testing my intellect
Long Chorus:
I just met a friend in college
It is such a great privilege
To belong
Yeah, yeah
To truly belong
I'm singin' this song
Knowing right from wrong
The tension between us
Makes me feel like we're not on the same bus
The apprehension we did feel isn't of our appeal
Some people just don't care...they just do their own thing as if their heart is made out of cold, avarice steel...
There's some scars to heal...
God is a mender and a creator, so let him turn the wheel
In our busy, busy lives
We are like bewildered bees in their honey hives
