To the Lady I Never Love
Maybe a jerk I am
For making away with your precious heart
With this little smile of mine.
Maybe a bigger jerk I am
For not dotty about it.
I know the softness of your touch
That could make a doll speaks
Would melt not the stone in my heart.
I know in a room filled
With thousands of people
Those bright blue eyes of yours
Would Only seek mine.
The way you held me so tight
All through the night
Make it all conscience-stricken
'Cause you love me so much still
Even when you know I can't love you
It's all an unsolvable riddle
Why the magnet in my heart
Would resist the forces from yours.
Others stare at you
You stare at me
But, I stare away.
You breathe me in
And wear me around as a crest.
But I breathe air and nothing more.
It all pricks
'Cause you love me so much still
Even when you know I don't love you.
