To Silence

To Silence – blessed break from speech And sounds that are beyond my reach To the end of scrape and screech To Silence – of the engines blast And sirens clamor as they pass To squelch alarms for sleep at last To Silence – in my troubled dreams And from my minds own fretful screams To let my conscious be redeemed To Silence – in the final sleep Let no one come and no one weep To Silence – my reward be reaped
