To Patricia M. Johnson From New Jersey

O Great Ocean!

She lives in a distant country.

You lie between us

and I know I can never fly

across you to her.

But I am a Poet and a Storyteller.

I am a Sense-Curator.

I am a Thought-Collector.

I am a leader of many fairy tales.

Therefore, I don’t need,

O Great Ocean,

flights across you!

My senses, thoughts, and fairy tales

will fly instead of me,

to find my friend’s smile in hard times,

and at times run away

from grey weekdays

into kind, beautiful fairy tales

to have some happiness in life.

Do you see, O Great Ocean?

I am stronger than you!
