To My Friend

You are amazing In so many ways you don’t know Over the years, how great it is To see where you’re at, to watch you grow I never thought we’d get this far Start a grand friendship from a hated past I never thought we’d be this close That I’d wish for us to last Our love is “luv” Our closeness, undeniable But what makes us this way to start with Is what makes our friendship impossible The rules are the rules We happen to be the ones that follow I’m glad we live by standards But sometimes they’re hard to swallow I know I haven’t fallen for you But I guess the danger is that I might So as tough as it is to be apart We do it cuz it’s what we know is right And it’s not so much that I want you Or that you’re better than the rest It’s not that I’ve examined you And decided you passed love’s test My fascination is not about you It’s more about the idea of you How great to be with my best friend Always, with a love so true But then reality kicks in And I see you as my brother The greatest FRIEND I’ve ever had You’re really like no other So as great as it sounds This idea of you and me It would never happen Cuz a friendship is all we see

As my mother always said, " If it is meant to be, then it shall be"....so I say, enjoy the friendship now, and stay open to whatever may come...Always, Christy

A lovely rhyme to this read and your words speak clearly of your situation. This is a common thing when one gets close in friendship with another, but it seems that you are making the wisest choice. Why risk ruining a great thing already? Well said. Michael
