To My Darling Wife, Ernestine On Our 34th Anniversary

To My Darling Wife, Ernestine
On Our 34th Anniversary
By: Tom Wright

If I merely said I Love You
or that you happen to be my best friend.
Would this, My Darling, be enough
as we continue toward life's end.

Would I need seek forgiveness
for my shortcomings and my wrong,
if I told you of a special place
where none but you can belong?

God, placed in you a gentle heart
then set your path my way.
I quickly found that just your smile
seemed to brighten up my day.

So if I were to be given a second chance
at starting married life anew.
I'd waste no time looking to and fro
my first choice would still be you.
Happy 34th Anniversary
