To my best friend of 22 years

We grew up together, we saw it all change,
But our bond was the one thing that never felt strange.
We got into trouble we even got hated
But we stayed the same while the whole world faded.

You were my sister since we were thirteen,
The truest damn person I’ve ever seen.
I’m loud and I’m angry and I’m staying that way,
Until I can see you on some other day.

We were 13 in the hallway, just starting to grow,
Twenty-two years of secrets that only we’d know.
From 7th grade classes to the lives that we built,
Now I’m drowning in anger and drowning in guilt.

I hate that you loved him. I hate that he stayed.
I hate every choice that the two of you made.
But mostly I hate that he’s breathing today,
While they’re digging the dirt where my best friend will lay.

Twenty-two years ended by one coward’s hand,
Now there’s a silence i cant ing stand.
 being "peaceful." "letting it go."
I want the whole world to see what i know.
