To Live In a Community
Rising in the morning my usual routines begin
washing or taking a shower sets the tone of the day;
to feel fresh and clean enables me to keep going
it’s like my invitatory psalm that holds praises
creates a space for a better flow of the day.
Prayer and mass punctuate the meaning
of being a religious, committed to life;
like a staple diet of everyday existence,
the Eucharist itself makes a big difference.
Homebound visits, some errands to run,
paper works on my desk, phone calls to make
and most of all moments of sharing at meals,
our recreation time and prayer as a community.
These are usually the common motif of everyday.
as I wrestle with the demands and obligations
of living in a community with other confreres
life’s compass is indeed reflected in this way.
Religious life in its continuing reality hath charms
to convey the mighty lessons of charity and love;
each member with the baggage of his past
gets clarity and assistance to walk with God.
It’s a gift to the church, a journey to holiness,
an uphill process especially in relationships;
human as we are, we show our deformities,
human frailties, helplessness and other issues
the picture we paint as subjects in the religious life.
