Shadow Hamilton Poet Verse

To Heal a Heart

For a child to feel safe
they must know they are loved
a parent's kiss and reassurance
go a long way to help establish this

Lead them away from daily strife
show them the wonders of nature
take them to the sea, let them play
as you explain the joys of the ocean 

Never argue in front of them
that is for when they are out
closed doors do no good
children hear the angry voices

Keep them safe and busy
there is so much to delight
in this world of ours
wrap them up in your love

When bad things happen
explain with simple words
remind them of good things
play with them and give kisses

Their haven is in you and with you
when a child feels safe and loved
the smiles and laughter come fast
so share their joy forget your heavy heart

Andrea Dietrich February 22, 2014 at 3:47 PM wonderful advice for the oldies to heed. My mom remarried and fought a lot with husband number two. Yet they remained together till he died. I guess we kids got used to their loud fighting downstairs every night, but it is something not even in my nature and I will never understand why folks raise their voices so often.
