To Fellow Soupers
Till March of twenty-twenty,
my poetry was virus-free,
as were the gems you shared with me.
We write of all we feel and see
that matters—-faith, friends, family,
and nature; still, this deadly, bold
pandemic has a stranglehold.
For thousands, now Death’s bell has tolled.
The rising numbers leave us cold
with grief and dread that worm their way
into our poems, which convey
we know this thief holds widespread sway.
We all must pray for strength to cope
and share our work with renewed hope.
