To Fall Or Not

Not sure if I'm climbing to get to the top...
Or if there even is a place for me to stop...

Maybe I'm just running from a fall...
Or I can stay in the middle just to watch you all...

My fingers are red and my grip may slip free...
If I drop, I'll pass all those before me...

To lay under the sun may not seem real...
But under the rain is where I can feel...

just gotta love this thought provoking couplet of yours Michael. Situations that we all go through in one form or another....just many don't take the time to think of it as you are in your stating of it in this purposeful choreography of words. Well done. I sometimes think in the complexities and pseudo values of today's world, if one's grip does slip free and we fall ... after and because of experiencing so much rain... we could fall to where the top really is... great poem Michael

Perhaps it's the gentle patter of rain that offers so much comfort, Michael. It seems we spend a lot of time both "climbing...to the top" or waiting to fall. Very interesting and eloquent write, Michael. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Love and blessings, Carolyn

A choice to make.. But i beckon we should choose not to fall and rather be a trail blazer...keep it up. I enjoy your lines. Mathy

Always keep climbing my friend. I love the introspection here though, the poem really makes me feel the struggle inside to make that decision. You inspired me to write a couplet today, not my usual poetical form. Thanks for that :)
