Tired Old Souls....

My tired adidas trainers From my youth Should still have pride of place I look at their thread bitten laces And in that one single moment I can always retrace Where they have been The footsteps they have trodden The roads they have taken Those tattered trainers Are shining examples of my history How I wish they could be re waken I wonder what stories they would tell Newly awake And yet still set in the past They would tell to me Secrets and learning curves That now I know would last Roads I have taken The darker ones Would they still put their foot in that hole? Looking at me now Would that lesson have been deserved Did it save or curse my soul Either way those trainers Provide all that young feet Attempted to jump and run through My tiny size soldiers Unaware of what lay ahead Walked their way to you....

Thank you for allowing us to "walk a mile" in your shoes, Jo. I could never have imagined a poem about shoes could spark such imagination. Very creative! Love, Carolyn
