Time's Eye
Time's eye shines
On things that last,
The things that fade
"All flesh is grass",
Traditions come
Their magic goes,
"Cool" comes fast
Then fades slow,
Soap box trendies
Preach their thing,
Last as long
As a piece of string.
Time's eye shines
On things that last,
The good, the bad
The gold, the chaff,
Man's evil acts
Beyond his grave,
Will ripple on
Beyond his gaze,
But time's eye shines
What's proven clever
God's word and acts
Will stand forever.
The voice said, “Cry out!” And he said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is
grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass
withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the
word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:6-8 NKJV)
