The stars have bid me goodnight
I’m under the covers
Turned out the light
Weights on the lids of my eyes
As I go over the film of the day
All of the lies I’ve successfully told myself

Eventually they’ll have to close
Turn off thr switch
Start to doze
The next day will be here in not an hour
To me it’s a few seconds
What a befuddling power

Maybe I’ll dream
A lifetime in my head
That only seems
Like it’s real
Entire stories
That I’ve yet to feel
